Bobcat Climbs Forty Foot High Cactus To Escape Lion

Photographer Curt Fonger captured some great images of a bobcat that climbed a cactus. The photographer says the bobcat climbed the saguaro to escape a mountain lion.

"When he looked down at me, those beautiful amber eyes with those dark slits said it all. It was so refreshing to be able to personally witness this bobcat at that precise moment," Fonger said. "A story of survival. He wasn't nervous or frightened. Instead he had a personified "Calm after the Storm" demeanor. A lesson more of us could learn from."

Deadline.com hinted first but TheOneRing.net has confirmed that Elijah Wood will appear in The Hobbit as Frodo BagginsAccording to TheOneRing.net, "As readers of 'The Hobbit' know, the tale of 'The Downfall of The Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit or There and Back Again,' are contained in the fictional 'Red Book of Westmarch.' In Peter Jackson’s LOTR films, the book is shown on screen and written in by Bilbo and Frodo and handed off to Sam Gamgee. (Not explained on film are Sam’s progeny later having the book and being Wardens of the Westmarch — hence the book’s title.) The fictional book, and either the telling from it or the reading of it, will establish Frodo in the films experiencing Bilbo’s story. Viewers are to learn the tale of ‘The Hobbit’ as a familiar Frodo gets the tale as well."

Homeless man with 'golden radio voice' gets a Dream Job

Ted Williams (born 1957) is a voiceover artist from Columbus, Ohio who became famous when a brief interview with him while he was homeless was posted to YouTube, quickly becoming a viral video sensation. He has been called the "Homeless Man with the Golden Voice".

Raised in Brooklyn, New York, Williams has nine kids, seven girls and two boys. He is 53 years old. Williams served three years for the United States Army. His inspiration to become a radio announcer came from a field trip at age 14, when he found that a radio announcer who he had heard looked nothing like he had imagined. Williams had experience as a radio disc jockey before, though Williams stated that around 1996, drug and alcohol abuse complicated his career leading to his then-current state of homelessness. He has currently been clean and sober for two and a half years.
A YouTube video was recorded in Columbus, Ohio at the Hudson Street off-ramp of Interstate 71, and posted January 3, 2011. It was recorded by Doral Chenoweth, a videographer for the Columbus Dispatch. Within one day, it had been viewed over 5,000,000 times. Williams' story also garnered a large following on the social news website Reddit, with many users pledging donations of money, clothes, and job offers. On January 5, 2011, Williams appeared on "Dave and Jimmy" on WNCI and was interviewed (since clean shaven and hair cut) by The Early Show on CBS.
On January 5, 2011, the day after Williams became an internet sensation, the Cleveland Cavaliers NBA basketball team offered him a job and a house. The offer calls for Williams to do full-time voiceover work with the Cavaliers and Quicken Loans Arena. Williams responded, "That’s the best deal ever!"

While the 2010 color of the year, PANTONE 15-5519 Turquoise, served as an escape for many, Honeysuckle emboldens us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor. A dynamic reddish pink, Honeysuckle is encouraging and uplifting. It elevates our psyche beyond escape, instilling the confidence, courage and spirit to meet the exhaustive challenges that have become part of everyday life.

Color of the Year for 2010

Pantone announced PANTONE 15-5519 Turquoise as the Color of the Year for 2010.
Turquoise texture by jujubalee on flickr
"Whether envisioned as a tranquil ocean surrounding a tropical island or a protective stone warding off evil spirits, Turquoise is a color that most people respond to positively. It is universally flattering, has appeal for men and women, and translates easily to fashion and interiors. With both warm and cool undertones, Turquoise pairs nicely with any other color in the spectrum. Turquoise adds a splash of excitement to neutrals and browns, complements reds and pinks, creates a classic maritime look with deep blues, livens up all other greens, and is especially trend-setting with yellow-greens."
Turquoise is a slightly greenish tone of cyan (from Greek: κύανoς (transliterated: kýanos), meaning "blue") . The color is based on the gem turquoise. The term comes from the French for Turkish.
The turquoise gemstone is the namesake for the color. In many cultures of the Old and New Worlds, this gemstone has been esteemed for thousands of years as a holy stone, a bringer of good fortune or a talisman. The oldest evidence for this claim was found in Ancient Egypt, where grave furnishings with turquoise inlay were discovered, dating from approximately 3000 BC. In the ancient Persian Empire, the sky-blue gemstones were earlier worn round the neck or wrist as protection against unnatural death. If they changed color, the wearer was thought to have reason to fear the approach of doom. Meanwhile, it has been discovered that turquoise certainly can change color, but that this is not necessarily a sign of impending danger. The change can be caused by light, or by a chemical reaction brought about by cosmetics, dust or the acidity of the skin.

The color turquoise purportedly has a calming effect on patients, and is particularly used to treat patients prone to panic attacks or mania.
Mainstream psychiatric hospitals use turquoise and other light tones of blue and green to calm patients by painting the walls in these colors.
Nurses often wear turquoise or aquamarine colored clothing because of the calming nature of these colors.

Anna Vasil’yevna Chapman (Russian: А́нна Васи́льевна Ча́пман; born Anna Vasil’yevna Kushchyenko Russian: А́нна Васи́льевна Кущенко; February 23, 1982) is a Russian national, who while living in New York, United States was arrested along with nine others on June 27, 2010, on suspicion of working for the Illegals Program spy ring under the Russian Federation's external intelligence agency, the SVR (Sluzhba Vneshney Razvedki). Chapman pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to act as an agent of a foreign government without notifying the U.S. Attorney General, and was deported back to Russia on July 8, 2010, as part of the 2010 Russia–United States Prisoner Swap.

Chapman was born Anna Vasil’yevna Kushchyenko in Volgograd, according to US authorities, and her father was employed in the Russian embassy in Nairobi, Kenya. According to Chapman's British ex-husband, her father, Vasily Kushchenko, was also a senior KGB official, although this is unsubstantiated.Biography

London: 2001-2006

Chapman moved to London in 2000/1, working at NetJets, Barclays Bank and allegedly at a few other companies for brief periods.
She met Alex Chapman at a London Docklands rave party in 2001 and they married shortly thereafter in Moscow; as a result she gained dual Russian-British citizenship, and a British passport. After Anna was arrested in New York, Alex engaged media publicist Max Clifford, and sold his story to The Daily Telegraph newspaper.

New York: 2006-2010

She took up residence at 20 Exchange Place, one block from Wall Street in Manhattan's Financial District.Alex has stated that Anna told him the enterprise was continually in the red for the first couple of years, and then suddenly in 2009, she had as many as 50 employees and a successful business. Her LinkedIn social networking site profile identified her as CEO of PropertyFinder LLC, a website selling real estate internationally.
She is reported to have been dating Michel Bittan, a prominent New York restaurant owner. She later described her time in the US with the Charles Dickens quote, "it was the best of times, it was the worst of times".

International exchange

After being formally charged, Chapman and nine other detainees became part of a spy swap deal between the US and Russia, the biggest of its kind since 1986. The 10 Russian agents returned to Russia via a chartered jet that landed at Vienna International Airport, where the swap occurred on the morning of July 8. The Russian jet returned to Moscow's Domodedovo airport, where after landing the 10 spies were kept away from local and international press.
Russia: 2010-incumbent
Late December 2010 Chapman was appointed to the public council of Young Guard of United Russia. According to the organization she "will be engaged in educating young people".

Media coverage and popular reaction

After her arrest by the FBI for her involvement with the Illegals Program, Chapman gained overnight minor celebrity status while under custody. The media dubbed her the "flame-haired beauty", "femme fatale", "the modern day Bond girl" and "the stunning SoHo spy". Photos of Chapman taken from her Facebook profile appeared on the web, and several videos of her were uploaded to Youtube.
Magazines and blogs detailed her fashion style and dress sense, while tabloids displayed her action figure dolls. Chapman was described by local media in New York as a regular of exclusive bars and restaurants. US Vice-President Joe Biden, when jokingly asked by Jay Leno on NBC's Tonight Show with Jay Leno, "Do we have any spies that hot?", replied in a mock serious tone, "Let me be clear. It was not my idea to send her back."

According to the news agency Interfax, effective 1 October 2010 Chapman is employed as an adviser on investment and innovation issues to the President of FundserviceBank, a Moscow bank that handles payments on behalf of state- and private-sector enterprises in the Russian aerospace industry.

The first official trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Quote

Lucy Pevensie: Aslan, will we ever meet with you in our world?
Aslan: You shall.
Lucy Pevensie: How?
Aslan: Because there I have another name. You must learn to know me by that name. This was the very reason why you were brought to Narnia, that knowing me here for a little, you may know me better there.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (novel)

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is a fantasy novel for children by C. S. Lewis. Written in 1950, it was published in 1952 as the third book of The Chronicles of Narnia.

Plot
Begun in January, completed in February 1950 and published on 15 September 1952, The Voyage of the ‘Dawn Treader’ returns Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, along with their priggish cousin, Eustace Scrubb, to Narnia. Once there, they join Caspian's voyage on the ship Dawn Treader to find the seven lords who were banished when Miraz took over the throne. This perilous journey brings them face to face with many wonders and dangers as they sail toward Aslan's country at the end of the world.

Influences
Arguably, Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the novel which shows the most influence from Lewis' Irish background. It is reminiscent of the Immram genre of Irish literature. However, unlike such voyages, The Dawn Treader travels East, rather than West.
It was suggested that that the Odyssey was an inspiration for it as well. It might also symbolize Paul's journey in the Bible.

Switchfoot - This is Home lyrics
Songwriters: Dodd, Andy; Foreman, Jonathan; Watts, Adam

I've got my memories
Always

Inside of me
But I can't go back
Back to how it was
I believe you now
I've come too far
No I can't go back
Back to how it was
Created for a place
I've never known

Chorus:

This is home

Now I'm finally

Where I belong

Where I belong

Yeah, this is home
I've been searching
For a place of my own
Now I've found it
Maybe this is home
Yeah, this is home

Belief over misery
I've seen the enemy
And I won't go back

Back to how it was
And I got my heart
Set on
What happens next
I got my eyes wide
It's not over yet
We are miracles
And we're not alone

(Chorus)

And now after all
My searching
After all my questions
I'm gonna call it home
I got a brand new mindset
I can finally see
The sunset
I'm gonna call it home

(Chorus)

Now I know
Yeah, this is home

I've come too far
And I won't go back
Yeah, this is home

Quotes

Peter: This is a tomb, not a fortress!
Caspian: This is crazy. No one has ever taken his castle!
Peter: There’s always a first time.

Reepicheep: Choose your last words carefully, Telmarine.
Caspian: ...You are a mouse.
Reepicheep: (sighs) I was hoping for something a little more original.

Aslan[to Lucy] Things never happen the same way twice, dear one.

Peter: What is it?
Edmund[staring upwards] Where do you suppose we are?
Peter: Where do you think?!
Edmund: Well, I don't remember any ruins in Narnia. [they all stare up at the ruins on the cliff]

Lucy[wandering around the ruins] Wonder who lived here?
Susan[she picks up an old chess piece made of gold] I think we did.
Edmund: Hey, that's mine - from my chess set!
Peter: Which chess set?
Edmund: Well, I didn't exactly have a solid gold chess set in Finchley, did I?

Lucy Pevensie: It's so still.
Trumpkin: They're trees. What do you expect?
Lucy Pevensie: They used to dance.

Caspian: I wish we had more time together.
Susan Pevensie: We never would have worked, anyway.
Caspian: Why not?
Susan Pevensie: Well, I am 1300 years older than you.

Lucy Pevensie: I wish you'd all stop trying to act like grown-ups. I didn't think I saw him, I did see him.
Trumpkin: I am a grown-up

Peter Pevensie: Prince Caspian?
Prince Caspian: Yes. And who are you?
Susan Pevensie: Peter!
Prince Caspian: High King Peter?
Peter Pevensie: I believe you called.
Prince Caspian: Well, yes. But I thought you'd be . . . older.
Peter Pevensie: Well if you like, we can come back in a few years.
Prince Caspian: No! No, it's alright! You're not exactly what I expected.
Edmund Pevensie: Neither are you...

Telmarine Soldier to be killed By Reepicheep: You are a mouse.
Reepicheep: You people have no imagination!

Edmund Pevensie[looking down a cliff over the water] Is there a way down?
Trumpkin: Yes. Falling.

Prince Caspian: You could have called it off, there was still time.
Peter Pevensie: No, there wasn't, thanks to you. If you had kept to the plan those soldiers might be alive now.
Prince Caspian: And if you had just stayed here as I suggested, they definitely would be!
Peter Pevensie: You called us, remember?
Prince Caspain: My first mistake.
Peter Pevensie: No. Your first mistake was thinking you could lead these people.
Prince Caspian: Hey! I am not the one who abandoned Narnia.
Peter Pevensie: No, you invaded Narnia. You have no more right leading than Miraz does. You, him, your father! Narnia's better off without the lot of you!

Peter Pevensie: High King Peter. The Magnificent.
Susan Pevensie: You probably could have left off that last bit.
Trumpkin: Probably.

Reepicheep: Pick up your sword.
Caspian: No, thank you.
Reepicheep: Pick it up! I won't fight an unarmed man.
Caspian: Which is why I might live longer if I refuse to cross swords with you, noble mouse.

Miraz: Now Prince Ed-
Edmund: It's King Edmund...it's "king"...just "king". Peter's the High King [pauses] I know, it's confusing.

Susan: I don't remember this way.
Peter: That's the problem with girls - you can't carry a map in your heads.
Lucy: That's because our heads have something in them.
